Panoramic Photo Downtown Toledo

arenaPSDinner planet 300x222 Panoramic Photo Downtown Toledo I do panoramic photography mostly just for fun right now.  I went downtown yesterday, March 16th and did a few 360 Panoramas.  Now this isn’t the typical wide angle panoramic photo.  This is merged with a “special effect” called little planet.

If you can’t tell, that’s the Lucas County Arena to the left.  I took the photo from Huron St, just north of Jefferson.

I just signed the contract to be on the inside front cover of the Toledo Wedding Guide.  It will be for the 2011 issue.  I have a lot to look forward to.  I can’t wait for the 2010 wedding season to start, this is going to be a big year for me.  2011 will be even bigger!

I will also be listed on the ToledoWeddingGuide.com wedding vendor directory.  Check it out!

Upgrades to my Portfolio

Newson February 27th, 20101 Comment

I am trying out a new way to display photos in my portfolio.  I am using a very large slideshow instead of the thumbnails I used to use.  I also added a lot of new photos and put them into subcategories.  Its a big little project and is not yet complete. I still have a ton of photos I need to edit and upload to complete each category.  I have worked on my site for 12 hours today…whew, I am ready for a break now.  I will hopefully have all the kinks worked out and all the photos uploaded in a few days from now.

“Do you want to help assure that your wedding photography comes off without a hitch, producing the ultimate in captured moments from your photographer? Do you want the highest level of photographic quality for your money? How about a wedding day remembered as one with maximum joy and smooth logistics?

A little advanced communication and planning with your photographer can go a long way in this regard, smoothing the way for everyone involved—from the wedding party and guests, to the creative pros assisting with the festivities. We’ve asked a few of our top WPJA award winners to weigh in with their own hard-earned advice for enabling optimal wedding day photography.

COMMUNICATE ON CREATIVE EXPECTATIONS

Smooth sailing starts at the beginning. When hiring your photographer, get the relationship off on the best foot with a discussion of his or her working style and exactly what kind of imagery you’re going to end up with. Even within the genre of wedding photojournalism, there is a range of approaches. The photographer’s own shooting philosophy, as well as a host of other factors relating to the venue, the time of day and the style of the event, can greatly influence the look of your wedding day images and your ultimate satisfaction.

SHARE INFORMATION ON WEDDING AND RECEPTION VENUES

Of course, you should choose your venues according to their beauty and meaning to you as a bride and groom. However, you can make things easier for your photographer, and help assure that your wedding day pictures are the best they can be, by carefully considering each site’s attributes—layout, lighting and overall atmosphere, making sure that you share what you know about the venue with your wedding photojournalist prior to the date…”   Read More

Being King And Queen For A Day

From WedPix.com

“For one day, the two of you are the focus of attention. The concerns of the world slip away as your sweetheart and you take center stage for the moment you’ve long anticipated. Your guests’ thoughts and emotions are given over to your love. In turn, they are participants in your big day, compounding the good feelings of the love-filled event. With ceremonial dances, emotional toasts or simply their blessings, your family and friends have come together on this day to help seal your love with fairytale splendor.

Indeed, your wedding is one of the few days in your life when you can live a dream. As the center of attention, you are celebrities, perhaps a king and queen for that one day, surrounded by a paparazzi of guests with cameras everywhere. Even though this situation is par for the course, it definitely has an impact on how your photographer will cover the wedding. Fortunately, talented wedding photojournalists take it all in stride, using the mix of hubbub and adoration to create lasting visual memories…”    Read More

Why PhotoJournalistic?

Newson January 29th, 2010No Comments

My photography is becoming very focused on the journalistic style.  I love the challenge of capturing real events in a artistic way as they happen.  A photograph of a real emotional moment, whether its happy, sad, romantic, funny, embarrassing, has so much more meaning than a posed portrait.  The candid shots become so valuable because they will enliven memories of your wedding day for the rest of your life.  Of course you can’t leave out the family formals, the creative portraits or the photos of the wedding details.

I am going to be moving more and more into the journalistic realm of wedding photography.  I plan on joining the Wedding Photo Journalist Association (WPJA.com) very soon.  If you are planning a wedding, I am guessing there’s a good chance you are, I highly recommend checking out their website.  They are also affiliated with a online wedding magazine called WedPix.com.  They have some great articles for couples planning a wedding.

Portfolio Update

Newson January 24th, 2010No Comments

I have reworked my portfolio and added a lot of photos to it.  You may notice that my portfolio photos are all cropped to be very wide.  The portfolio template that I use displays photos with a 2:1 aspect ratio. I really like the way the photos look cropped to the super wide angle view.   I am interested to try out some prints at this size.  A 40in x 20in canvas wrap would look nice on a wall I am sure.
